Gut symptoms are common but can cause a lot of worry. The stress of wondering if there’s something serious going on feeds into the symptoms and makes them worse. Testing for the key conditions that can cause gut symptoms is one of the first steps to figuring out what's going on and getting on top of them.
Gut inflammation is a common cause of gut symptoms at any age. As you get older - e.g. over 40 - we should also check for bowel cancer. To make life easy, we've combined both tests so you only take one simple stool sample.
Our Easy Gut Inflammation and Bowel Cancer Test combines a calprotectin test for gut inflammation and a qFIT test for bowel cancer. The qFIT test picks up microscopic amounts of blood in the stool which is a sensitive marker of bowel cancer.
Your result will include your actual calprotectin and FIT levels as well as a report from one of our doctors explaining what your results mean. You'll also be able to download the formal lab report so you can easily share your results with your doctor.
Gut inflammation is a common cause of gut symptoms such as stomach pain and diarrhoea.
WHAT'S MEASURED?
Bowel cancer affects 1-in-15 of us and the main symptoms are a change in bowel habit, stomach pain and blood in the stool.
WHAT'S MEASURED?
It's best not to take this test while you're on your period.
This simple stool test looks for biomarkers of gut inflammation and bowel cancer. If either of these markers are positive, it might indicate a cause for gut symptoms and we would recommend that more tests are carried out. If the tests are negative, then it's much less likely that bowel inflammation or bowel cancer is a cause for your symptoms.
We do not recommend using this test panel if you:
If you have a known medical condition that directly affects the bowel, such as inflammatory bowel disease or bowel cancer, then this test panel may not be usef
